We're here!

Ok, so it's been a little over a week since we arrived in California, but I've been too lazy to write on my blog. Here is a little recap of the fun times that we've had since I last blogged....

-Sammie is awesome at going potty on her potty-chair. Going number 2 is a different story. So we had a cool mini-van that goes with her doll house as a reward for achieving this goal. It sat on top of her bookshelf and we talked about it all the time. "Don't you want to play with your van, Sammie? It's so much fun!" And she knew how cool her van was, but she'd just say "I'll go later!". So when does she decide to go number 2? The day after our house was packed up and everything was loaded onto the truck. Yup, that's right. I think she wasn't getting enough attention with all the packing and us trying to clean our house before we left. So then of course she wants her van. Arrghh! What's a mom to do? Well, this mom shlumped her way to Wal-Mart in her dirty house-cleaning clothes to purchase another mini-van. Yup thats right. That's what I did. And has she pooped on the potty since? Nope. But she has gone on a big toilet away from home a couple of times now. And I thought that day would never come.

-Sammie did great on our three day road trip to Cali! It was sweet, little Reesie-piece who cried a lot! Poor thing. We figured out eventually that she was constipated and her tummy hurt. Wow, I'm sharing lots of poop info today....

-Now we are at my parent's house hanging out. OH! BIG NEWS! How could I have forgotten this?! Ok, maybe it's not big to you guys, but we got a house in Monterey! There is some nice, new housing at Ft.Ord that we were aiming to get. We just weren't guaranteed to get it. There is no waiting list, it's first come first serve for the new houses. And on the day Jim and I drove over we had our choice out of 8 houses! Woo hoo! God sure answered our prayers. We have a single family home, attached garage, 1700+ square feet...it's great! A lot of the other homes were duplexes so we are glad to not have to share any walls. And it's just down the street from the PX and the commissary which are both essential when you live in expensive California.

-And one last thing...we've been watching the show "Breaking Bad" on DVD for the past few nights with my parents. And it sure sucked us all in! We can't wait for the 2nd season to come out on DVD so that we can find out what happens next. I was pretty surprised though, when my dad came home from Target with this TV show. I mean, who wants to watch a show about a chem teacher who starts cooking meth? Doesn't that just sound wrong?! And my parents are good, moral people so I was all the more surprised that they wanted to watch such a cutting edge type of show. Well, anyway, the main guy is the dad from Malcolm in the Middle, if you remember that show. He just found out he has terminal lung cancer and he wants to leave his family taken care of financially, so that is where the drugs come in. So it's about all the situations he gets himself into. Now let me warn you if you decide to go out and watch it, there are some scenes you don't want to watch with your parents in the room, and there are some scenes that are really, really gross. I don't like those parts, but the rest of the show and the characters are very interesting. So anyway, there you go.

You are such a good mom for getting another van for Sammie in work clothes. Glad you got a great house in CA...commissary and px will be a blessing, isn't gas really high out there? enjoy settling in!

That so great about the housing. It can be nerve racking not knowing what you're going to end up with. Anna is getting better at no. 2 on the potty. It has been a long road for us so don't dispair. She went today on her own no problem, but yesterday she went in her panties. I guess some progress is better than none.
