Life goes fast

Time is flying by. As a young mom who has just moved across the country, I feel like I'm in a big hole and can't get out. I'm barely keeping my head above water with laundry, constant food shopping, prep, and cleaning up afterward, housekeeping chores, etc. Try to fit time in to actually play with my kids and my day is gone! Now that Sammie is 5 she is involved in a lot of extracurricular activities and so we are driving to those things in the evenings. I need to paint some rooms in the house, I need to organize the girls clothes, I want to decorate, I want to create awesome bedrooms that my girls will be excited about. But all I can really do is get through each day. And I need to be happy with that.

Sammie is 5 now. She is giggly and bubbly and loves to play with Violet. She loves to get in her face and make her laugh, although I am mostly cringing and hoping that she isn't squishing or hurting her. Not that she would ever do that on purpose. She makes friends easily and loves to talk. Jim sometimes wonders how she still has more to say, while he has used his quota of words up hours ago. :) She still wants to be with me and play with me, but she also loves playing with her neighbor friends outside. Last night she was out playing and she was the only girl. But she was happy! Sometimes after a long day of school and playing outside with friends, she'll be sad and ask me why I didn't play with her that day? It makes me a little sad, but then again, she's the one who chose to play with her friends. Sometimes I have been playing with her and she still asks why I didn't play with her. So I'm confused as to what she actually wants out of me.

Reese loves to escape the house through the garage and ride her little red bike down the hill without shoes or helmet. She does this when I am distracted and I run outside in a panic to find her cruising up and down the street (or sidewalk) all by herself. Sometimes a concerned passerby will stop to assist her.
