Since Jim got a motorcycle (or a ko-ke-kykle as Sammie calls it) I was able to get a new toy, and that new toy is a treadmill! I've been using it quite regularly and am very pleased. I make so many excuses not to pack Sammie up to go to the YMCA across town, and I also make too many excuses not to exercise outside (the latest being my sudden springtime allergic reaction to Lawton)so now I can get a workout in at home whenever I want. This usually ends up being during nap time when I can watch a Law and Order rerun on tv. So far so good. I'm looking forward to running indoors when it reaches the 100s in the next month or so.
Now back to the ko-ke-kykle. Sammie loves them and loves to point them out all over town when we are in the car. What is with this girl? First she loves airplanes and helicopters, and now she's moved on to motorcycles. I guess she's the tomboy that Jim always wanted. She won't let me do her hair in cute pony tails anymore either. However, she does like to play with makeup brushes, so maybe she's part girl after all.
Not much has been happening around here lately. The main thing is how bad my allergies have been this spring. I try to stay inside a lot, but then I feel bad for Sammie. So then we go out in the backyard in the afternoon and by the time Jim comes home I'm congested and sneezing with itchy eyes and bad attitude. Anyway, I do try to stay inside so I'm not such a grump when Jim gets home.
Well, it looks like I'm the FRG leader for Jim's company. We had a potluck/meeting that went pretty well. We had a good turnout and I now have a list of women who would like to help out with stuff. My latest project is getting a phone tree set up so that I don't have to call all 80 or so spouses on the list ever, ever again. It was really fun to call for a spouse only to have the husband tell you that they are now divorced. Great. Awesome. At least I got most of that out of the way so that my volunteers don't have to call and embarrass themselves. Our next project is setting up a BBQ once a month outside the company HQ and inviting the Brigade to come over for lunch. This used to be a successful fundraiser for the company about a year or so ago, so hopefully we can get it started again. I've never done anything like this before, so wish me luck!
Also, it looks like the Walters will be headed our way! Yea! Can't wait for you guys to get here! Then our kids can finally meet! I'm so glad that Col. H saw the light and is letting Josh outta Germany! Enjoy your last summer in Germany though, because while Lawton is home to the amazing Starling family, it's not as pretty as Germany. Tschuss!!
