The other day when Jim was fixing the back wheel on Sammie's bike, she asked him to leave off the training wheels. So he did and she gave it a shot, and boy can she ride that little 12" bike! Jim's dreams of holding onto the back of the bike and coaxing her down the street were shattered in an instant when she figured it out all by herself. Sammie isn't even four yet and here she is cruising around without training wheels. What a studette! I wonder what she'll conquer next?!

Well, how about this little move? Is my daughter in the circus? No training wheels and no feet? She pulled this little diddy off at Grandma Sue's house over the weekend. Apparently she felt that she needed to add some pizzazz to her bike riding routine. Soon I'll be posting pictures of her juggling and balancing plates on her head while riding her bike.

And not to be out done, Reese went cruising on the pink tractor with Grandma Sue helping out. Some day your feet will reach the pedals, Reese!

Ok, so a little explanation is in order. Sammie didn't miraculously learn to ride her bike without training wheels. For the past few weeks she's been practicing her balance on a little balance bike. It's a little bike with no pedals and children can practice scooting around and keeping their balance on a two-wheeler. She conquered that little bike pretty quickly and was zooming down our hill. (Scary!) So I guess the next logical step was riding her own bike and keeping her balance. Sammie, we are so proud of your skills!

Nice job on 2 wheels Sammie!
What a little wonder woman! Maybe she'll inspire our timid Anna next year, because I'm sure she'll still have her training wheels then. Maybe Jim can realize his dream with Anna. :-)
Great job Sammie! You go girl. :)
And thanks, Joni, for posting this. I've been trying to convince Josh to get the boys bikes of any kind for a few months now. I showed him this, and I think now he's more inclined to finally get the boys bikes.
This is so cute! I'm amazed : )
Way to go, Sammie! That's incredible. Kathleen has no interest whatsoever in removing her training wheels. I think we're going to have to see if we can borrow a balance bike, too!
Amazing Sammie!
I've read about balance bikes. Wow - I guess they really work.
Hey, it's time for a new post.
3 months and no new blog post?? sad :(
