Sammie's first prayer and some other cute things

Last week Sammie came into our room early in the morning asking to sleep with us. She was scared of the wind (Oklahoma has crazy wind) and she told me that she said a prayer "Please God, take the scary wind away!" It was so sweet! I had told her before that if she was scared in her room she could say a prayer to God and ask him to take the wind away and she remembered that conversation apparently. It was so cute.

And then yesterday after going potty in her potty chair I asked her if she wanted an M&M (as opposed to the lollipops that she knew were in the kitchen). And she replied, "No, I want cantaloupe!" Wow! I must have been using the wrong treats all along to reward her potty chair accomplishments! And what is even funnier is that this cantaloupe had been lingering in the fridge for a few days and hadn't even been cut into yet. We hadn't even talked about cantaloupe since we bought it at the commissary a few days earlier. So funny that she remembered it!

Jim's 32nd birthday was yesterday! Happy birthday Jim, I love you! He got an SLR digital camera that he loves and a new griddle to use for Saturday morning pancakes. That's his thing with Sam, they make pancakes together on Saturdays.

Reese has been cooing and smiling like crazy. I love it when she locks her eyes with mine and then gives me a big, gummy grin and starts her gurgling cooing sounds! She has been a very, very easy baby compared to Sammie. Yesterday we went out to dinner for Jim's birthday and Reese was awake in her carseat when we got there. And then, drumroll please, after a few minutes of eating chips and salsa I look over, and she's asleep! No fussing! No crying! No needing to be held so that she can wriggle to her hearts content! Nope, she just fell asleep! It was awesome.
Then we had more attention to give to Sammie who had to get out of the booth to dance to the Mexican mariachi music. What a girl.

What a girl indeed. I cannot wait to see what they are like when they get older. I can just picture Sammie running from school all excited about something, and talking a mile a minute about it as Reese follows calmly behind, rolling her eyes at what a nerd her big sister is. It's going to be great!
