That's right! On Saturday Jim and Sammie and I drove up to Oklahoma City and bought a GMC Acadia for our growing family. Very exciting! We had been researching and discussing buying a new car for a few months and decided to go ahead and do it. Better now in Oklahoma than next year in California where the taxes and registration on new vehicles are more expensive. We got a military discount and some other rebates and felt like we got a good deal on our new Acadia. Initially we were looking at Honda Pilots. Jim's mom has one and we liked it. But then I discovered the Acadia (its only been around since 07) and it had an option for two captains seats in the second row as opposed to a bench seat and I thought that was awesome. It has some other features that we liked and it was the last 08 model on the lot. I think they were glad to sell it! We drove to see it on Saturday and I was a little dissapointed with the color. It wasn't my first choice, I would have gone with something lighter that doesn't show dust so quickly. The color is technically called Crimson Red metallic (I think) but it looks black from far away and even sometimes has a brown look. When the sun shines right on it it even gets a purple tinge! So I renamed the color to "Raisin".
We checked the car out, then went to lunch to discuss it. Jim had found it online so we knew it had all the features that we wanted, Jim liked the color and I wasn't too sure. Mostly, I was just nervous about buying a new car. But in the end we decided to get it. And the color has started to grow on me actually. It looks pretty sharp out on the road. And the ride is so nice and smooth and quiet! When we drove it home we stopped at Josh and Beth's house to show it off and Josh came up with the better color name of "Black Cherry". Yes, that's much better than "Raisin". Thanks Josh! And thank you sweet hubby for my new mommy ride!
Sammie loves playing in the new car already. She jumps right in and scoots to the back bench seat. "I sit in the back!" she tells us. This is really cute until we have to crawl back there to get her to come out and sit in her carseat. Who knew that the back seat would be so much fun?! Now we are trying to sell the Durango, the trusty SUV that took us around Europe. Sammie likes to talk about Daddy's Durango too and it sounds so cute coming from her little mouth. It will be sentimental to sell it, but it's also very fun to get a new car!

Joni-We have the same car, only the Saturn version, and we love it! We've had it a year and a half now, and it has worked perfectly for out two kids and giant dog!
We researched it lots too, and are very happy with our decision.
Happy Driving!
NICE!!!!
